Starting on Sept. 3, the City of Medicine Hat will begin the replacement of storm sewer infrastructure at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Fourth Street SE. This is part of a commitment to a proactive approach to infrastructure replacement, the city says, and an effort to ensure reliable service for affected residents. The two-phased project will begin with the northbound lanes of the intersection. The southbound lanes of Maple Avenue will accommodate two-way traffic between Third and Fifth streets during the closure. When complete, work will transfer to the southbound lanes, with the newly reopened northbound lanes accommodating traffic. The city asks residents for patience, as this may cause traffic delays, and to obey all posted signage and detours. Weather permitting, the storm sewer infrastructure replacement project is expected to be complete by the end of September. 7
