Interpretive centre hosting ecology walk at Echo Dale

By Medicine Hat News on August 22, 2024.

Echo Dale Park is home to a unique ecology, and the Medicine Hat Interpretive Program is offering a unique chance to get to know it through a guided walk.

“Water is the key to life, and in our desert ecosystem, it is absolutely vital,” said chief interpreter Mhairi Donnelly. “In this interpretive walk, we will learn how water has shaped our landscape, and how it will continue to change our landscape in the future.”

The walk will cover the special properties of a prairie forest and what makes it unique in he Echo Dale Ecology walk, among others.

Starting from the viewpoint parking lot, the walk will follow the flat, laid trail to take in the panoramic views along the South Saskatchewan River on Sept. 4, from 10-11:30 a.m.

MHIP asks residents to be aware that the walk is not a loop, and will go on regardless of the weather, so attendees should dress for the conditions.

The walk is free to attend, but those interested are asked to call or visit the Nature Centre to register and for more information.
