S. Boundary trail closing until early September for underground power line work

By MEDICINE HAT NEWS on August 14, 2024.

The pedestrian trail along S. Boundary Road will temporarily close starting today between Southridge Drive and Vista Drive for underground power line replacement.

During the work, crews will be replacing the existing S. Boundary feeder cables along this section of S. Boundary Road. The feeder cable supports the residential, commercial and industrial customers in the South Ridge, Vista and Hamptons neighbourhoods.

The city says the project will improve the electrical system’s reliability, redundancy and the quality of service to affected residents and commercial properties in this area.

They add, no customers are expected to experience a service disruption from this replacement work. It may also require minor isolated traffic restrictions to accommodate work as it progresses.

Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed, and the trail reopened, by Sept. 4.

The S. Boundary trail west of Southridge Drive and east of Vista Drive is unaffected and will remain open during this project.
