Coulee interpretive walk offers insight on coal mining

By MEDICINE HAT NEWS on August 3, 2024.

Tailored to those with a passion for local history, the Medicine Hat Interpretive Centre offers an interpretive walk, “Coal Mine Railway Trail.”

The walk will be centred on the history of coal mining, Connaught Golf Club and who Rudyard Kipling was speaking about when he made his famous “all hell for a basement” statement, the centre says.

The centre does warn prospective attendees that the walk is not a loop, and will be down and back up a coulee path. They also advise that the walk will take place regardless of weather conditions, so dressing for the weather is a must.

This free event will take place Aug, 13 from 10-11:30 a.m., and begins at Connaught Drive and Kensington Avenue.

Those interested in learning about this piece of local history are encouraged to visit or call the Nature Centre at 403-529-6225 to secure their spot.
