Day of caring today for victims of Jasper fire

By MEDICINE HAT NEWS on July 31, 2024.

The province of Alberta is holding a day of caring today for Jasper fire victims.

In an act of assistance for those impacted by wildfires in Jasper and other affected areas, the Canadian Red Cross will be collecting donations today for the immediate help and ongoing relief including financial assistance, support to evacuees and the communities hosting them, recovery and resilience efforts in response to the wildfires, as well as supporting community preparedness and risk reduction for future disaster events.

The Government of Canada and the Government of Alberta will also match every dollar donated today by Canadians to the Canadian Red Cross 2024 Alberta Fires Appeal, meaning every dollar donated will become $3 donated to those affected by wildfires.

Those looking to help people affected by the wild fires can also donate empty bottles and cans to any Bottle Depot, with the proceeds directly helping the Alberta Day of Caring. Anyone donating cans or bottles are to say, “these are for Jasper,” at the Depot.
