Workers at Moduline in Medicine Hat and the Empress Gas plant operated by Plains Midstream will see raises in new contracts posted in an overview of collective bargaining published by the province for June.

The Medicine Hat Employees Association, which is the bargaining agent for 80 workers with the Medicine Hat based structure builder, agreed to a three year deal on May 3. It provides annual raises of 3, 2, and 2.5 per cent, respectively, until mid-2027.

Gas plant workers, represented by Unifor Local No. 746, signed a three-year deal last March, that gives increases of 5, 3.5 and 3.5 per cent until January 2026.

That deals mimics a new contract with different time frame at Plains Midstream Canada’s facility at Fort Saskatchewan where 54 workers are represented by a different Unifor local.

Among major settlements of note in the new summary of contracts filed with the province:

– City of Calgary inside workers secured raises of abut 3 per cent in each year of an three-year deal that ends at the start of 2027. The 4,200 employees are members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees.

– Electricians and lineworkers with the City of Red Deer ratified a two year deal that gives a total of 5.5 per cent in raises to 45 members of the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers;

– Labourers Local No. 92 union has secured a 12.6 per cent raise over four years in the Prairie Rail construction agreement that expires in 2028;

– Grocery workers at FreschCo location in Edmonton have ratified a first contract between the Safeway-owned chain and the United Food and Commercial Workers, local, No. 401. The four-year pact covers 102 workers at the Manning location, but doesn’t include a wage increase through 2028.
