Beginning Tuesday a section of the trail in the north end of Southridge Community Park will be temporarily closed as the park is scheduled to undergo two phases of rehabilitation work to be completed in August.

The first phase will require the washroom on the north end temporarily closed until work that will enhance the trail’s structural integrity is completed in the middle of July.

The second phase will focus on rehabilitation to improve water drainage in the south end of the park and will begin once work is completed on the north side.

The city expects all work to be completed by August, however the start date and time lines are subject to change depending on competition of the work on the north section of the trail.

In a press release city officials state the work will help maintain the high standard of the more than 170-kilometre Heritage Trail Network.

“To ensure it continues to provide residents of all ages with reliable opportunities for walking, cycling, jogging, scootering, inline skating, skateboarding and more.”

The park will remain open to the public throughout both stages of work.
