For the third consecutive weekend the city is hosting another block party during its summer series at Towne Square with the theme of celebrating childhood.

The series of weekly block parties provides free activities, games, entertainment for residents every Saturday to help cultivate the vibrancy by extending programming efforts downtown.

Celebrating Childhood runs from noon to 4 p.m. and will include activities, games and crafts for all ages. Food trucks will also be set up at Towne Square.

On June 22 the city celebrated National Indigenous Peoples Day that included a drum circle and ribbon skirt fashion show, as well as appearances from elders and wisdom holders who spoke about the significance of traditional customs.

The city has created an online form available for market vendors interested in joining the block parties and can be found on the city’s website under the Arts, Heritage, Parks & Recreation tab.

Free parking can be found on the third level of the Transit Parkade until September.

Next week’s free block party will celebrate art and creativity.
