To help residents make connections, the Medicine Hat Public Library is pleased to bring back speed-friending, an event which proved successful earlier in the year.

In a similar format to speed-dating, participants speak with other attendees for a limited amount of time, in order to quickly discover who may be an ideal new friend.

“When we hosted Speed Friending for the first time in March it was so well-received that we had almost as many people on the waitlist as we were able to have in the program,” said Chris Brown, head of marketing & community engagement with MHPL.

This time around, MHPL has split the program into two sessions – one open to all ages on Saturday at 2 p.m., and one that’s for people 55-plus on June 26 at 2 p.m.

Both sessions will offer fun conversations, a welcoming atmosphere and the chance to make new friends. Whether someone is new in town or just looking to expand their social circle, this event is the perfect opportunity to connect with new people, said MHPL.

“We know how important social connection is to people’s mental health and we’re always looking for ways we can have a positive impact in the community,” said Brown.

Space in both sessions is limited, and both require registration. Those interested are encouraged to sign up quickly by visiting mhpl.info/register.
