A man who Mounties in Brooks say violated a no-contact order twice in one night last week, including allegedly robbing a residence 30 minutes after he was charged, appeared in Medicine Hat Court of Justice on Monday.

Shane Micheal Lace, 38, is now charged with robbery and assault, after he was initially arrested on the morning of May 21 after RCMP officers were called to a disturbance and found Lace in contravention of a no-contact order with others there.

Police say that at around midnight that day, Lace left custody following a bail hearing and reportedly returned to the address, which was cited as a “no-go” location as a bail condition.

Police say he made threats, assaulted an occupant and fled with a phone.

He was arrested on the evening of May 22.
