Vehicle access to Strathcona closed for flood protection training today

The access road to Strathcona Island Park will be closed today for city flood protection training.

The city announced Tuesday there will be no vehicle access into Strathcona Island Park and no access to the boat launch, Lovell McDonnell Field, Heritage Pavilion and Strathcona Island playground during business hours today (8 a.m to 5 p.m.).

The training will focus on the installation of a specialized flood protection system in the area known as a ‘flood wall.’

The annual procedural training and is not related to any perceived or impending threat. Emergency vehicles will be able to access the park during the closure.
