The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program has rescheduled three events due to the record-breaking rain in the city. The local organization has rescheduled its spring photography walk, Plaster Tracks and Scientist for a Day program. The spring photography walk’s new date is May 23 at 2 p.m., still at Police Point Park. The walk will allow interested photographers an opportunity to learn new tips and tricks as well as learn about Police Point Park. The walk is scheduled to take no more than 1.5 hours starting at the Nature Centre, and interested photographers can register at 403-529-6225. The Plaster Tracks program has been rescheduled for May 25 from 10 a.m. to noon. The program is geared toward introducing people to casting a plaster track while also relaying information on animals’ tracks that can be seen in the wild. They’ll also talk about what plaster is and why they use it to make a track cast. Registration is required at 403-529-6225 and it is a free-to-attend event with donations welcomed. Future local scientists will take a rain check on their chance to learn their passion. The program’s Scientist for a Day has been rescheduled for June 9 from 1:30-3 p.m. The initiative is aimed at curious Hatters aged 13-plus with a desire to know more about the world around them. MH Interpretive will be teaching how “citizen scientists” can help crowd source data for research projects using platforms like iNaturalist. The program is free to attend and participants will learn how to access projects of interest and best practices for making observations, then practise their new skills in Police Point Park. All ages are welcome, but anyone under 13 must be accompanied by a guardian to use iNaturalist. For more information on this event or other programs available through the MH Interpretive program, email mhip@natureline.info, or call 403-529-6225. 15
