@MedicineHatNews Using less water in gardens will be the subject of a workshop held tonight by the Community Food Connections Association ahead of an annual seed swap set for this weekend. The group is also developing a program of workshops on more effective watering, soil improvement and other ways to maintain garden production even as potential water restrictions are expected this summer, executive director Genevieve Mathieu says. Two spots remain open for this evening’s “wise” watering techniques and discussion of passive, root-level watering system discussion and demonstration at Kin Coulee. Tools and pots can be provided for $25. Registration is required through the group’s website, but additional workshops may be added if high demand is registered. “Seedy Sunday” is set for St. John’s Presbyterian Church this weekend as gardeners gather to swap stories, seeds and equipment. The free event will run from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on Sunday in the hall accessible by the west entrance. Email CFCAGarden@gmail.com for more information, to receive the group’s newsletter or to volunteer. 8
