A metals miner with interests in sodium brine extraction in southwest Saskatchewan has expanded its footprint in that province.

Edison Lithium Corp. announced Monday it has closed a deal to acquire new exploration properties west of Saskatoon. That adds to a portfolio acquired last summer in properties near Cabri Lake, the Freefight area and Ceylon Lake, south of Regina.

Those alkali deposits total 4,500 acres.

The Vancouver-based Edison also operates in Cobalt, Ont. and Argentina, and according to corporate documents is focused on extracting material for the electrical battery production sector.
