RCMP Briefs: Brooks police searching for missing teenager girl

Brooks RCMP are asking for assistance to locate a teenaged girl not seen since Saturday night.

Summer Faith Taypotat, 16, stands 5-foot-8 with medium brown hair and was last seen at home late on March 16 wearing green pants and a grey sweeter.

Police are concerned with her wellbeing and ask anyone with information to contact the Brooks RCMP detachment at 403-794-4400.

Drug sweep in Coaldale

A stolen goods investigation in Coaldale has resulted in six arrests on drug charges earlier this month, Mounties in that town have announced.

RCMP from the Picture Butte-Coaldale detachment say they opened a stolen property file in mid-February, and on March 9 executed a search warrant at a home in Coaldale.

They say tools and a replica firearm were seized, as well as various amounts of drugs, including 22 grams of heroin, 70 grams of fentanyl as well as methamphetamine and magic mushrooms.

Michael Berg, 37, Frederick Stephen Lavell, 52, and Scott Eugene Conine, 41, were each charged with two counts of drug possession and drug trafficking. Lavell and Conine were held in custody following a bail hearing and next appear in Court of Justice at Lethbridge on March 21.

Three other unnamed individuals were also charged with drug possession and trafficking and will next appear on April 29.

Gunplay near Strathmore alleged

Reports of a man video recording himself shooting from a vehicle near roadway called into the Strathmore RCMP has resulted in the arrest of a 20-year-old Lethbridge man.

Lethbridge police, a tactical team and the Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit of the RCMP executed a search warrant on March 8 at the 100 block of Fifth Street S. in Lethbridge. They say a loaded handgun and shotgun were seized.

Nicholas Bastarache, 20, faces eight charges including careless use of a firearm, possessing a stolen gun, possessing a restricted firearm without a licence, discharging a firearm from a vehicle and four counts of drug trafficking. He is scheduled to appear in Court of Justice at Strathmore on May 21.
