Students and staff at Medicine Hat High School went into a lockdown for approximately 25 minutes Wednesday morning as police followed up on a concerning social media post made by a student.
At 9:25 a.m. the high school went into lockdown procedures as police conducted a search after a post on social media by a student who witnessed a person on campus with a weapon.
Twenty-five minutes after police begin their investigation the school’s lockdown procedure was downgraded to a hold and secure that lasted an additional 35 minutes.
Police told the News they conducted a search and found the concerning items which included ammunition but no weapons, and no charges were laid.
At 10:43 a.m. the hold and secure was lifted and the high school continued its normal operations.
