More than 1,000 teachers from around the region will be participating in a large convention held at the college today and tomorrow.
The two-day convention will feature more than 140 workshops and seminars as well as host several guest speakers involved with the growth of the province’s teaching profession.
Some of the workshops include soap making, using music in language arts, how to use AI tools safely and how to get your students writing.
The convention kicks off this morning at 9 a.m. with a live presentation from Vanessa Vakharia “The Math Guru,” who will teach five key socio-emotional principles to improve math lessons.
This afternoon Canada’s first First Nations women to be named to the national hockey team, Bridgette Lacquette, will tell her story on resilience, determination, setting goals and over coming racism and her journey towards seven years of sobriety.
On Friday afternoon Adam Growe, host of the popular Canadian television show “Cash Cab,” will help wrap up the convention with a quiz that will put teachers in the student’s seat.
All provincial teacher conventions this week are organized by teachers who volunteer on convention association boards and look to improve overall education in Alberta classrooms.
