Redcliff Library will be hosting a handful of furry friends on Wednesday, in partnership with the Medicine Hat SPCA.

After the success of previous cat cafes, says library manager Tracy Laternus, they’re excited to have a repeat event.

“There will be approximately four cats from the SPCA free-roaming in the conference room, and we’ll have the coffee and cookies available for anybody who drops by to visit with the cats,” said Laternus. “It’s just a fun little afternoon.”

The previous event was held during the school day, but there is hope that with this one being during a learning break, more kids will be able to come and spend time with their feline guests.

“We’d been considering events like this since before COVID,” said Laternus. “I’m hoping that maybe we can get a couple of these cats adopted, and encourage people to come by the library, too, so it’s nice to everyone involved.”

The event will take place at the Redcliff public library from 2-4 p.m., and is open to everyone.
