A man convicted of buying 100 fentanyl pills in Havre, Mont. has been sentenced to eight years in prison for drug trafficking, the Montana District of the U.S. Attorney’s office has announced.

Rembrandt Carlos Kemp, 33, of Fridley, Minn., was found guilty by a jury at trial last fall of drug dealing in the Havre and Billings area. He was sentenced Jan. 31 to the prison term followed by a further five years of supervised released.

Authorities say Kemp was one of two men and one woman who took part in a controlled drug buy in early 2021.

A traffic stop later found a total of 35 grams of methamphetamine and 100 fentanyl pills in the vehicle along with a .22-calibre “AR15-style” rifle and about $1,400 in cash.

Co-defendant, Chantel Azure, was earlier sentenced to 28 months in jail, and another man, Martaveon Scott, is awaiting sentencing.

The Tri-Agency Task Force, Havre Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the investigation.
