https://www.medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews The cost of ice time, business licences and getting a new water line could be rising in the town of Redcliff in 2024, though most other fees will remain the same in a proposal put to town council on Monday night. Annual revision of fees were presented to council, showing the largest proposed increase comes in costs of having water and sewer lines run to new connection. The broken-out charge for labour and equipment to have both installed simultaneously would be $3,570 for labour and equipment. That is up from $2,800, while the charge of installing one or the other separately would rise $900 to $3,200. Inflation also adds to suggested cost recovery of cemetery fees. Plots will remain at the current $1,000 rate, but added charges for Saturday, holiday and after-hours burials could go up $50 to $235. Minor adjustments to a handful of specific development are also included in the package for council’s approval. Most permitting and inspection fees remain constant. Local business licence fees rise by $10 to $70 for the year, or to $380 for non-local businesses. A host of listed occupations increase in the $10 range. Ice time at the Rec-Tangle would rise by $30 per hour for non-profit and youth users, to $125, while other users in prime-time hours would pay $15 more or $175 per hour. That pricing would be in place until mid-2025. Admission to the Redcliff Aquatics Centre will rise by $1 for adult day pass purchases (to $7) and by $2 for aqua-fit day pass. All other age groups and packs and passes remain the same. 11
