This weekend get ready to look for clues while learning about Medicine Hat’s historical role in world conflicts.

Medicine Hat’s Interpretive Program is hosting “The Great Hat History Hunt” that will see participants travel through time to explore the city’s history.

Based off the popular CTV program “The Amazing Race,” the city-wide scavenger hunt will provide players clues that will lead them to locations around the Hat with significant historical relevance.

“It might be the siren near Swirls Ice Cream,” park interpreter Isaiah Hurlbut says as an example.

Time slots for the History Hunt begin at the Nature Centre in Police Point Park at 10 a.m., with the last set to leave the park at 3:20 p.m.

Groups of up to five participates can sign up for the event, and there is a $20 per person entry fee. Organizers say it should take groups more than an hour to complete.

The History Hunt is aimed for young adults and up. A vehicle will be required to drive to all locations.

“We’ve put a lot of work in to make it perfect as possible and flow well. We think it will be super fun,” says Hurlbut.
