Local access fees are applied to cover the cost of property tax charged to power lines and natural gas pipelines. Town council recently received the recovery rate from Fortis, which will rise from 8.5 to 17 per cent, leading to an average increase from $6.05 per month to $12.90 per month. Atco will raise its rate from 12 to 17 per cent, equating to an annual increase of $27.20. SHAUNAVON — The Shaunavon Shadows have advanced to Saskatchewan high school provincial final for 9-man football against the Lumsden Devils on Saturday. Kick off at Lumsden is at noon. LEADER — A fundraising roast beef dinner and silent auction will be held Nov. 18 to assist the area’s Trust Advisory Committee to support rural health care. Funds will support the creation of a new Leader-focused charity. Tickets are $50 and are available at the Leader town office, the Leader Pharmacy and Leader Liquor Mart. BURSTALL — Derrick Hammar was the winner of the byelection held Oct. 26 to fill a vacant position on Burstall town council. The final vote tally was Hammar 66 to 20 received by candidate Ken Mardian. 7
