Conditional purchase of Medicine Hat News property announced by buyer

A conditional sale of the Medicine Hat News building has been formally announced by the buyer.

As reported recently, the News operations will be moving into a renovated space on Allowance Avenue which we already owned. The News looks forward to using our new home to bring trusting local news and sports for many more years to come.

More details on our new space will be announced in coming weeks.

The following is a statement sent to the News on Friday from Rick Wahl:

“We are pleased to announce that we have entered into a conditional purchase agreement to acquire the Medicine Hat News building on Dunmore Road. The potential acquisition is an exciting opportunity, as the News property consists of a 26,670 square-foot building on 2.84 acres which provides in excess of 100 parking stalls.

The property is strategically located in the southeast quadrant of the city in a strong robust retail area. Our plans are to upgrade the main components of the building and refresh the paving and landscaping areas.

We are actively reaching out to potential office tenants and the retail community and welcome any inquiries from potential tenants. We will update further in early November.
