reporter@medicinehatnews.com Medicine Hat College has activities planned for Pride Week (Sept. 18-22) in support of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Taking part in the activities fosters an environment where everyone feels valued and respected. “We hope these celebrations inspire empathy, compassion and a commitment to creating a safe and welcoming space for all students regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity,” said Lily Schaerer, president of the Student’s Association. “It’s an opportunity to learn about the challenges faced by the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and the strides made in creating a more inclusive society.” A photo booth will be set up today in Centennial Hall to participate in and leave messages of inclusivity. In the B-wing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday will be a community fair about resources available on campus. On Thursday there will be button creating (11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.) at the Den to display one’s pronoun and a SafeLink workshop from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Crowfoot Room. The annual office decorating contest for staff and faculty will be judged Friday. For more information on the Pride Week activities on campus, visit samhc.ca. 9
