Project “Los Amigos” has sent 60 decommissioned fire trucks, ambulances and buses to areas of Mexico where limited emergency response equipment is available. Recently, a firetruck that had been donated after it no longer met Canadian service standards was en route south when it over heated, according to co-ordinator Larry Pratt, of the Brooks Rotarians. Nelson’s Radiator and Air Conditioning in Redcliff jumped in to help on the unique equipment. “They fixed us up with a new radiator and then when we had an issue with the fan damaging it gave us great service in fixing it and getting us back on the road again,” Pratt told the News. The next batch of vehicles is scheduled to leave to Mexico in October 2024. 8
