Kindersley RCMP reports second drug-related death in July

By James Tubb on July 21, 2023.

RCMP in Kindersley are reporting their second drug-related death in July and third since May in the town of 5,000 residents located 100 kilometres east of Oyen.
The detachment also states it responded to four other drug overdoses since April where naloxone was used to reverse the effects of suspected fentanyl use.
Seven calls in three months, including fatalities on May 14, July 4 and July 12, led the service to put out a public warning this week.
Saskatchewan RCMP warns against use of the powerful pain killer that is often mixed with a variety of other street drugs, but also suggests never using drugs alone, carrying a naloxone kit and calling 9-1-1 in cases of suspected overdose.
Anyone with information about the substances involved in fatalities or overdoses are encouraged to call the RCMP and 306-310-RCMP.
