https://www.medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews Suspects who police say drove through a fence to avoid police near Redcliff last week have been apprehended near Raymond, authorities announced Wednesday. Travis Douglas Seitz, 32, and Brooke Ashley Mintz, 28, both of Brooks, are in custody after RCMP officers from Redcliff, Brooks, the service’s Southern Alberta District Crime Unit, a K9 unit and a helicopter were involved in the arrests Tuesday. Authorities say at that time they recovered a stolen truck, holiday camper and property from two commercial break-ins at Redcliff. Police say they opened an investigation into a “crime spree” in southeastern Alberta in June and encountered the pair in multiple stolen vehicles that evaded police at high rates of speed. On July 5, RCMP officers approached a rural property near Redcliff where a vehicle of interest was located. The release states the suspects drove the truck through a fence to escape, “narrowly missing police.” A subsequent search uncovered two more stolen trucks and three stolen trailers valued cumulatively at about $300,000. Another trailer taken from Dunmore and a trailer from Taber were also found during the investigation. Both have been charged with multiple counts of possessing stolen property valued above and under $5,000, as well as failing to comply with probation orders. Seitz and Mintz are in custody and are scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice hearings in Lethbridge, Brooks and Medicine Hat on July 19. 10
