The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program’s summer calendar keeps pumping out activities. On Sunday, MHIP will host an historic building walk in Downtown Medicine Hat, then on Tuesday a puzzling adventure will be hosted at Police Point Park called Calling All Adventurers. The historic building walk will begin at the entrance to Veterans’ Memorial Park across from City Hall on Sunday at 10:30 a.m., and will take between 60 and 90 minutes to complete. “We’ll explore the stories, the architecture, and the people that make each location special and see what the city was like during its earliest days,” reads a release from MHIP. Call 403-529-6225 to register for the historic building walk. There is no charge and no limit on the number of people who can attend. Two days later, MHIP will welcome the city’s fighters, bards and rogues to embark on an epic quest to save the kingdom, where participants must “be prepared to engage in epic duels, traverse the land and decipher ancient verses” throughout the park. “Heavily inspired by classic tabletop RPGs, “Calling All Adventurers” presents your adventuring party with an epic fantasy quest,” reads an MHIP release. Group sizes will be capped at five people. Registration costs $10 per group, and can be done by calling 403-529-6225 or by visiting the Nature Centre The activity takes approximately 90 minutes to complete, though the event itself runs from noon to 4 p.m. at Police Point Park. Costumes are encouraged and props are provided. Police Point Park also launched its Summertime StoryWalk on July 8, featuring the story “Treasure” by Mireille Messier. “Come read about what happens on a treasure hunt in Police Point Park and enjoy a beautiful summer walk with a free family-friendly activity through the StoryWalk.” The StoryWalk will be available until Aug. 12. Participants who complete the walk may receive a prize coupon which can be redeemed at the Medicine Hat Public Library. Prize coupons are only available during business hours. More information on these events can be found at natureline.info, or by visiting Police Point Park’s Facebook and Instagram pages. 15
