https://www.medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews Just like large amounts of water in 2013, the anniversary of the flooding that first hit High River and Calgary that year will take a few more days to reach Medicine Hat. Calgary marks June 21 as one decade since heavy, concentrated rain west of that city swelled rivers and caused a local state emergency when its downtown was swamped. Water from the same storm took four more days to crest in Medicine Hat at just below record levels. In the end 500 homes were badly damaged in the Flats, Riverside and Harlow, when levels peaked on early morning of June 24. But dire projections of damage well into downtown, bridges and at the city’s power plant were not realized. Readers can expect a recounting of the emergency in the News over the next few days to correspond with local events as they happened in 2013. 7
