Alberta is home to a wide variety of pollinators. Most often discussed are insects like bees, beetles and butterflies, however some birds and mammals also help pollinate, such as hummingbirds and bats.--SUBMITTED PHOTO
The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program is encouraging Hatters to bee creative while learning about Alberta’s native pollinators, during its June 23 Buzzed for Buttons drop-in education session.
Being held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Police Point Park, Buzzed for Buttons is the first of several sessions included in MHIP’s new Pop-Up Pollinator series, which aims to educate community members on local pollinators through engaging activities, like crafts.
During the Buzzed for Buttons session, Hatters are invited to visit a pop-up info booth set up near the park’s west river lookout and chat with park interpreters stationed there. While at the booth, they may create a custom button to wear to show their appreciation for pollinators.
Buttons are available with donation.
