Construction season is once again in full swing as the city begins its annual road resurfacing program Friday. Financed through the city’s capital budget, the program encompasses repairs to road infrastructure, including catch basins, concrete curbs, gutters and sidewalks, as well as roadway repaving. The city’s assessment management plan identified five roads/sections of road for this year’s program based on priority need. The first road scheduled for work is Carry Drive between Dunmore Road and Trans-Canada Way. Work is scheduled to begin Friday and is expected to conclude by the end of July. Next is Seventh Street SW from First Avenue to Fourth Avenue. Work is expected to begin in early-July and conclude in mid-August. Also scheduled for early-July is First Street SE from S. Railway Street to N. Railway Street. No expected conclusion date was provided. In mid-July, work will begin on Redcliff Drive from 13th Street SW to 10th Avenue, and Dunmore Road between 29th Street SE and Carry Drive. Work on Redcliff Drive is expected to conclude in early-to-mid-August, and Dunmore Road expected to follow in mid-to-late August. While all roads will remain open to two-way traffic during the scheduled construction periods, motorists are being advised to expect delays. The city reminds motorists to obey all postage signage and adhere to temporary speed limit reductions. 10
