Medicine Hat firefighters are thanking the community for support in helping them raise more than $15,000 for Muscular Dystrophy Canada.
A total of $15,204.60 was raised this past weekend through the group’s annual #FillTheBoot campaign and Rooftop Campout, which took place at Fire Station No. 2 on Trans-Canada Way.
“We’re thrilled to be able to contribute to a great cause that directly impacts the lives of thousands of Canadians, including our own Hatters who are living with neuromuscular disorders,” Dylan Gustafson, senior firefighter and local firefighters association charity and fundraising co-ordinator, said Monday.
“We’re extremely grateful for the support from this community. The people, businesses and other emergency service personnel that came out to donate kept us going through the chilly weekend.”
Gustafson was particularly excited that the amount raised well surpassed the group’s fundraising target of $12,000.
