A new downtown location for Medicine Hat YMCA services opened its doors this week.
A grand opening of the “Y on 2nd” was held Monday at the office location at 525 Second St. SE.
It will host the group’s community programs, such as Alternative Suspension, Youth in Transition and Camp Jude, operations, and beginning this summer, the YMCA Employment Services location.
“We are excited to meet the community’s needs by offering new and innovative community programs,” said Sharon Hayward, CEO of Medicine Hat YMCA.
“The impact of the pandemic continues to be felt with an increase in mental health and addictions issues, particularly in youth.”
The building was purchased and renovated in 2022 with proceeds from the sale of Camp Elkwater.
