KidSport Medicine Hat and Redcliff is starting up their Toonie Swim again this year. On the second Saturday of each month until April, from 6-8 p.m., swimming at the Big Marble Go Centre will cost only $2, with all proceeds supporting KidSport Medicine Hat & Redcliff. “Our local chapter started Toonie Swim prior to the pandemic and is excited to start it back up again since it offers an affordable way for families to get out and get active,” says Connelly Sherwick, chair of KidSport Medicine Hat & Redcliff, in a news release. “We are incredibly grateful to be able to offer this again and thanks to our sponsor, Saputo, all proceeds will support KidSport. With these additional funds, we can continue to help local families and athletes play a season of sport.” Last year was a big year for KidSport Medicine Hat & Redcliff, as the local not-for-profit helped approximately 230 kids get off the sidelines and into the game with almost $60,000 granted to local athletes from 25 different sports. Since the chapter’s inception in 1997, KidSport has disbursed close to $900,000 and helped more than 4,500 kids receive grants to cover sports registration fees.
