The faculty at Medicine Hat College and educational assistants in Prairie Rose Public Schools are listed among the latest public sector unions to accept similar contract settlement offers, according to the latest summary of collective bargaining in the province.

The long-expired contracts will be renewed with no retroactive wage increases for three years, but a 2.75 per cent increase in the final year, and potentially an additional 0.5 per cent depending on cost of living changes in 2024.

That is according to the summary of new union contracts for January, released on Wednesday.

The independent faculty association at MHC, comprising 228 members, ratified their settlement Jan. 25. The four-year pact will expire June 30, 2024.

Educational assistants in the regional school division are represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local No. 829. The seven members ratified their contract on Nov. 1, 2022, but it was just submitted to the Jobs ministry.

Also agreeing to similar terms during the month were the faculty of Northern Lakes College, and non-academic staff at SAIT, Olds College and Red Deer Polytechnic, represented by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees.
