The Medicine Hat Concert Band Society and Lethbridge Community Band Society are coming together again to continue their Hands Across the Three concert series, nearly six year after its first instalment. In March, 2017, MHCBS’s Allegro band travelled Highway 3 to Lethbridge to join LCBS’s Gold Band in the series’ first concert. It was intended the Gold Band would then travel to Medicine Hat for the second concert, however unexpected events delayed its visit until now. The long-awaited Medicine Hat concert will be held at 2 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Esplanade under the direction of MHCBS conductors Curtis Perrin and Mark Ward. The concert will feature an array of music including marches, overtures and a selection of works by Canadian women composers. “We are thrilled to be welcoming the Lethbridge Gold Band to Medicine Hat,” Perrin told the News. “They are our closest neighbours and we are looking forward to building on the relationship that we started when we visited them in 2017 and hopefully continue it into the future. “(In 2022), the Andante Band travelled to Lethbridge to share a concert with the Silver Band, and now the Allegro Band is hosting the Gold Band in our world-class concert hall.” Tickets are available to purchase online at tixx.ca or at the Esplanade’s box office. 8
