The City of Medicine Hat’s annual Christmas tree recycling program starts up again today and will run until Jan. 31.
The program allows the public to drop off real Christmas trees at three locations across the city – the Northlands Co-op Recycling Depot, the Kipling Street Recycling Depot and the Medicine Hat Mall parking lot near Best Buy – free of charge.
Following collection, the trees will be transported to the city’s landfill where they will be turned into wood chips and mixed into compost. The chips will help aerate the compost, thus aiding the process of decomposition.
Drop-off locations are accessible 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
