kking@medicinehatnews.com The Medicine Hat News Santa Claus Fund is inviting Hatters to immerse themselves in the spirit of giving during weekend fundraising events and initiatives. Hatters have multiple ways to show their support Saturday, beginning with Suffield Fire Department’s annual toy collection, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. outside Walmart. As well, Royal LePage invites community members to its annual toy run, taking place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Toy or monetary donations are welcomed. Donors are invited to take a complimentary photo with Santa or enjoy a treat from the hot chocolate and cookie bar. Afterwards, Hatters can head to Blondie’s Gift and Garden Centre in Dunmore for the inaugural Gifts for Pics with Santa event beginning at 4 p.m. A $20 cash donation is required, and as thanks, donors will be gifted two digital pictures with Santa. The day ends with the Medicine Hat Tigers’ annual Teddy Bear Toss – puck drops at 7 p.m. and teddy bears fly after the Tigers’ first goal. Teddy bears must be new and should be wrapped in a plastic bag. 7
