Whether looking to spruce up their Holiday decorating or hoping to make some merry family memories, southeast Albertans have two options to enjoy a u-cut Christmas tree experience this season.
Those wanting to embrace their inner Clark Griswald and take a tree straight from the forest, are able to get their tree from Cypress Hills Provincial Park with a valid tree cutting permit.
Permits are now available and can be applied for online at http://www.albertaparks.ca, or at the park’s visitor centre. Permit holders may apply to cut up to three trees.
Those wanting a festive family experience may wish to consider visiting the local region’s only u-cut tree farm – Country Mouse Farm, located less than 20 minutes south of Medicine Hat.
Visitors to the farm are able to select and cut their own Christmas tree, but will also be treated to a wagon ride, complimentary family photos and a snack of cookies and hot chocolate. White spruce and Scots pine trees are included in the cost of the experience ($100), with other varieties of trees an additional cost.
Country Mouse Farm is open to the public Dec. 3,4, 10 and 11, however those interested in the experience may choose to book an alternative date/time online at http://www.countrymousefarm.ca or calling 403-529-5684.
