https://www.medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews Default power prices for non-fixed rate customers in the Hat have risen to a new record in October, 18.7 cents per kilowatt hour, according to rates published on Monday. That’s up 3 cents compared to September and higher than the previous record set in August. That local default commodity price is determined by the average of other regulated rate option prices in the province. That calculation sits at more than double the local fixed rate offering of 8 cents per kilowatt hour, in place until the end of 2022. Four comparable floating market rates for October ranged from 18.03 cents from Enmax to 19.5 cents for Epcor’s customers in Edmonton. The default rate for natural gas in Medicine Hat this month is $5.11 per gigajoule, a $2.10 drop from September. The city’s fixed gas price is $4.35. 7
