They stated they found a loaded .38-calibre Smith and Wesson hand gun in the passenger seat of a car where the Calgary man was located, as well as $35,000 worth of narcotics under the seat. In court Thursday, Judge G.S. Maxwell agreed with a joint submission from prosecutors and defence attorney to sentence him to four years in prison on a drug trafficking charge. “Four years is not an insignificant sentence,” said Maxwell, who credited Jones with four months already served since his arrest, leaving him to serve 44 months. Police also arrested two other Calgary residents during the early 2020 incident which turned up 235 grams of methamphetamine, 78 grams of fentanyl, nine grams of crack cocaine and $800 cash in Jones’s wallet. The status of drug charges against Deborah McIntosh, 54, and Gerald Wright, 44, are not known. 9
