Students from River Heights Elementary School got to go behind the scenes of the Medicine Hat News as they toured the building and spoke with editorial team members Monday.
The Grade 3 and 4 students, who will be publishing their own monthly classroom newspaper later this school year, were excited to learn the ins and outs of reporting, news writing and layout, as well as the printing and delivery processes.
Following the tour, students chatted with city editor Ryan McCracken, who answered an array of questions ranging from ‘How do you find stories to report on?’ to ‘How do you make newspapers look so old?’
Now equipped with knowledge straight from the experts, these little reporters are ready to search out the hard-hitting stories in their classroom and school.
