https://www.medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews Minimum wage in Saskatchewan will rise to $13 per hour on Oct. 1 as a step toward $15 minimum wage, it was announced Wednesday by the province, which previously indexed the rate to inflation. It’s among a number of provinces set to adjust the figure at the end of this month, though Alberta’s rate of $15 will remain unchanged. Last May, Saskatchewan announced the legal minimum compensation rate would move to $13 this year, then $14 in October 2024 and $15 in 2025. That moves the rate up from the current $11.81, which is the lowest in Canada. British Columbia’s is the highest of any province at $15.65. It was adjusted last June after a commission’s recommendation. Manitoba will raise its minimum wage from $11.95 at present to $13.50 per hour in October, then $14.15 next spring. Ontario’s month-end adjustment will raise the rate by 50-cents to $15.50. Alberta’s minimum wage last adjusted in 2018, though changes in 2019 allowed for lower rates for youth workers and those workers who collect tips. 9
