https://www.medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews A preliminary hearing date has been set for a Medicine Hat man charged with killing a Brooks man in early 2020. Julian Conrad Morris, 34, faces a charge of second-degree homicide and will see a preliminary hearing held from March 27-31, 2023, defence council informed Medicine Hat Provincial Court on Wednesday morning. That comes after the conclusion of a pre-trial conference and scheduling completed this week. RCMP major crimes investigators allege Morris killed Brooks resident Dylan Denault, 27, whose body was found near Range Road 61 and Township Road 114, south of Medicine Hat, on Jan. 13, 2020. On Feb. 7 that year, Morris was arrested and charged after a day-long crime spree involving vehicle thefts and possessing quantities of methamphetamine. He was not charged in relation to the murder in January 2022. Morris was incarcerated at the time of his arrest at the Bowden Institution, but is eligible for parole this fall. He is at the Calgary Remand Centre, court heard. 10
