Methanex Medicine Hat is opening its doors to the public today during its Community Day event.
The family-friendly event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., aims to increase understanding of commercial methanol production and product stewardship through facility bus tours, presentations and an Emergency Response Team demonstration; with tours beginning at 10:30 a.m. and running every half hour until 2:30 p.m. Tour participants must be at least 10 years of age or older.
Local Methanex employees will be on site to speak with community members and answer any questions they might have, as will representatives from Praxis Science Outreach Society and Safety City, who will be operating several children’s learning stations.
After touring the facility, community members are invited to a charity barbecue, with proceeds to Praxis Science Outreach Society. The barbecue runs 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Registration is not required. Attendees are asked to wear closed-toed shoes.
