Bow Island residents to boil water while broken main fixed

Bow Island residents were told Wednesday to boil their water until a broken water main supplying the town could be repaired.

Work was expected to conclude sometime Thursday and the order rescinded once new testing showed the water was safe to drink.

Residents were advised to bring tap water for drinking, preparing food, coffee, ice cubes or infant formula, or brushing teeth to a rolling boil for at least one minute.

Sponge baths for infants and toddlers was recommended, as was using hand sanitizer after washing hands with soap and tap water.

The order is in effect until further notice.
