reporter@medicinehatnews.com The draw for all six community raffles that were on the grounds at the Medicine Hat Stampede & Exhibition show will be held on Sept. 1. An exact time for the draw has not been coordinated but will be released shortly. General manager Ron Edwards explained that delays in getting the licences from AGLC and a paper stock shortage resulted in the tickets not being ready until the fair started on July 27. Normally, tickets would have been available at the beginning of July so the groups could presell them prior to the show. However, as that didn’t happen this year and the groups were uncertain if they would sell enough tickets during the fair, the draw date was set to Sept. 1. Tables will be set up during the Global FMX Motocross and Snowmobile Show being held at the Stampede Grandstand on August 17-18, 7 p.m. for both nights. The groups have also been selling tickets at their own events, as the raffles are one of their major sources of fundraising. Prizes being drawn for on Sept. 1 are: Medicine Hat Moose Lodge raffle: $5,000 cash prize Medicine Hat Elks Lodge raffle: $7,500 cash prize Ladies of the Auxiliary raffle: $10,000 cash prize Friends of Medalta Society: $15,000 cash prize Medicine Hat Shrine Club and Al Azhar Shriners raffle: $20,000 cash prize Medicine Hat Kinsmen Club: One grand prize, which includes $10,000 cash and 15 South County Co-op gift cards worth $1,000. Total value $25,000. 12
