Montana vaccination rates lagging

The vaccination rate in Hill County, Mont., including Havre, has hit 60 per cent, according to data posted by that state’s health officials.

That makes the region south of Cypress County, Alta. one of nine of Montana’s 58 counties to reach that mark.

With about 14,900 residents of the area eligible by age for vaccination, 8,900 are considered “fully immunized, having either a two-dose treatment or the single-shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

Statewide vaccination rate sat at 54 per cent on Tuesday.

Missoula County and Silver Bow County (the area around Butte) both had the highest percentage of residents inoculated with 65 per cent.

Hill County’s neighbouring jurisdictions, Blaine County and Liberty County, post 52 and 37 per cent vaccination rates respectively. Toole County has a 49 per cent uptake rate, Glacier County, which borders southwest Alberta, sat at 62 per cent.

Alberta counties along the international border with two-dose vaccination rates among those aged five and older as of Feb. 6: Cypress County (70.4 per cent), Forty Mile (45.2), Warner (63), Cardston-Kainai (geographic region, 72.4).

Across the province, 79.8 per cent of Albertans have two-shot coverage.
