Miywasin hosting event for Truth and Reconciliation

In observance of the inaugural National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, Miywasin Friendship Centre will be holding an event Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Riverside Veteran’s Memorial Park. The event will include prayers, singing and a ceremony honouring residential school survivors. Brenda Mercer, cultural co-ordinator at Miywasin, says “This is a day to inform and understand.” She hopes this event can bring Indigenous and non-Indigenous community members together. Attendees are invited to wear orange in honour of Orange Shirt Day, which also takes place Sept. 30. 5-4
