Another COVID-19 death has been recorded in Hill County, Mont., bringing the total toll from the respiratory illness to 46 people in and around the town of Havre, figures showed Friday.

Active cases in the region south of Cypress County continue to fall and only numbered five on June 17, according to state health officials. A total of 2,028 positive diagnosis have been registered among a population of 13,256 in Hill County. About 42% of the local population has been fully vaccinated.

Seniors housing

The Clearview Lodge seniors residence in Taber will undergo a $15-million renovation and expansion, according to documents presented to that town’s planning commission last month. The facility is operated by the Taber and District Housing Foundation, a tax requisition authority that provides low-cost seniors housing. The facility currently has 77 units, but would see suites increase in size. Together with an addition, a total of 80 one-bedroom and studio suites would be the result. Landscaping and exterior improvements, along with a storage shed for electric scooters would be included in the work.

At the same meeting, the commission received plans for a new Wendy’s restaurant in the town.
